Cerro del Yuta Wilderness
The Cerro Del Yuta Wilderness is located on the Taos Plateu, a volcanic landscape of lava flows and shield volcanoes. Ute Mountain's 10,093-foot peak sets a commanding presence on the flat landscape of its immediate surroundings. Summit views across the Taos Plateau, the Rio Grande, and to the nearby Sangre de Christo mountains are stunning. The arid lower slopes of the mountains transition to pinon and juniper and then to ponderosa and Douglas fir on the wetter north facing slopes. Aspen grace the top of the mountain.
