Trigo Mountain Wilderness
You're practically in another state in Trigo Mountains Wilderness; the Golden State to be precise. Only a thin strip of Imperial National Wildlife Refuge along the lower Colorado River separates this Wilderness from California. The Yuma Military Proving Ground lies to the east. A road divides the area into northern and southern sections. Here, you'll find 14 miles of the Trigo Mountain ridgeline cut by Red Cloud Wash in the south, Clip Wash in the center, and Hart Mine Wash in the north. Elevations range from about 300 to 1,700 feet. Year-round temperatures range from the low 50s to mid-90s and less than 5 inches of rain falls, annually. Numerous washes further dissect the area's sawtoothed ridges.

Boundary, simplified to about 0.005 degrees
The outline is the agency boundary simplified for display, so small parcels and inholdings may not show. The agency page has the authoritative map.
Weather by month
Large units span more than one climate. The station stands in for the center point, and the outer parts of the boundary can be warmer or colder.
Where to camp
No federal campground is within ten miles of the boundary in the Campsite Atlas index. Camping inside a wilderness is usually allowed away from trails and water, with no facilities; the managing agency page has the permit and group-size rules.
